Stars and Stripers

2013 Tournament

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing
4th Annual
"Stars and Stripers" Fishing Tournament
August 24, 2013

Background and History

Project Healing Waters has recognized the benefits associated with fly fishing in the rehabilitation of our nation’s veterans suffering from physical and psychological trauma incurred while defending our Nation.

Program participants are joined by PHW volunteers at their points of rehabilitation, where they learn skills such as casting, fly tying, rod building and other techniques. These skills are then used as participants are hosted at various Fly Fishing events to apply their newly acquired skills.

In 2010, PHW teamed with "Professional" Salt Water Fly Fishing Guides for a day of fishing on the Chesapeake Bay for Striped Bass. The event has grown in size and interest, and has much of Maryland’s “Eastern Shore” community supporting the effort.

****Special Update****

This year's Stars and Stripers event has been changed to take place on Saturday, 24 August, only.  The events previously planned for Point Pleasant Farm in Bozman, Maryland were canceled for a number of reasons including the passing of our property coordinator unexpectedly in May of this year.  We have initiated an Annual award in his honor which we are naming the Tony Pascal Award.

The Saturday events (see below) remain unchanged and we have tried to notify all participants of this sudden unfortunate change.

Event Information

The Stars & Stripers Tournament will be held at Dominion Marina ( ), in Chester, Maryland.  It is only a few miles beyond the Chesapeake Bay Bridge when you are traveling Eastbound.

The Address and contact info are as follows:

Dominion Marina
1735 Little Creek Road
Chester, MD 21619

Travel Eastbound on Route 50 past Annapolis, and cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  Follow Route 50 East to Exit 36B.  Go straight at the light to Dominion Road.  Follow Dominion Road to the end then bear right onto Little Creek Road.  Follow Little Creek Road for approximately a mile, and the sign for Dominion Marina will be on the left.  There will also be a sign for the "Stars and Stripers" event at the entrance to the Marina.
