Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek, Maryland

9 June 2007

Saturday, 9 June the group from PHW went up to Beaver Creek for some trout fishing. The group had been scheduled to go to Lebanon, Virginia for the weekend, but the drought there had shut down the fishing. We left the Malogne House at about 8:00 am and convoyed to the creek. Those that made the trip were Eivind Forseth, Bill Johnston with his son, Diane Cochran and her daughter, Grayson Galatas, Jake Keeslar, Juanita Milligan and I. We were met by Doug Hutzell and several of his friends that assisted in getting us to the right spot and helping with the netting chores. Rob miller presented the group with a painted picture of an American flag, made by his son at his birthday party. All his friends had signed it. It was a nice start to the day.

The water was off color from the rain the night before, so not many fish were caught before lunch. After lunch the water began to clear somewhat and the fish were taking surface flies. The fish were few in numbers but had good size and pretty coloring. Grayson landed a nice 19 inch rainbow mid morning. I think most everyone caught 1 to 2 fish.\

All in all a great day on the water with good camaraderie. The guides (our good friends) from the area, as usual, were all very helpful and provided the local knowledge of the Beaver Creek.
