Sepulveda Fly Casting Program Begins
28 February 2008
Project Healing Waters has begun a fly casting program at the Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center in Sepulveda (Mission Hills), CA, located in the San Fernando Valley, north of Los Angeles.
A dozen volunteers from Sierra Pacific FlyFishers (spff.org), a local fly fishing club with over 200 members, kicked off the program Thursday, February 28, 2008. SPFF volunteers put on a one hour fly casting demonstration and mini instructional clinic for a group of 8 to 10 Vets and 5 VA staff gathered on the lawn area behind building 10 on the Sepulveda campus.

SPFF club member David Hoffberg (dhoffberg@aol.com) coordinated the event with the assistance of Marianne Davis, Chief, Voluntary Service; Larry Wong, Voluntary Service Specialist, Sepulveda Site Manager; and Patrick Gregorio, Recreational Therapist, Craft Care Specialist.

Thursday afternoon casting clinics are planned every 3 weeks at the Sepulveda site and SPFF volunteers are working on a fly tying program starting later in the year.
