The Project Healing Waters Limited Edition (LE) Fly reel is a cooperative venture between Fly Fishing Benefactors (FFB) and Project Healing Waters (PHW). Fly Fishing Benefactors is a fly-fishing manufacturer and retailer based in Winston Georgia. FFB is a Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) retailer and Sponsor Member. The owner, Carl Craig, is a retired Air Force Officer/Pilot and is a disabled veteran.
The PHW LE reel is a newly designed 5/6 weight fly reel based on the FFB Potomac Fly reel. The reel is cut from bar-stock aluminum (aircraft grade 6061T aluminum) and represents the ultimate in fly reel design and function. The reel weighs 6.172 ounces, has an arbor of 2.00 inches, a spool diameter of 3.50 inches, and a spool width of 1.06 inches. It is a true large arbor reel. The reel has a walnut retrieve handle, is reversible and is fully salt water corrosion resistant. The reel sports the famous FFB silent retrieve with simple one-click drag adjustment on the incredibly powerful disc drag system. The spool is interchangeable with any FFB 5/6 weight reel and has a unique “screw-on/off” nut assembly. The reel is emblazoned with the PHW Logo and also marked as a Limited Edition.

The first ever PHW aluminum fly boxes come in two variations, a simple foam/foam unit and a foam/8-window unit. Both boxes are 6 inches in length, 3.5 inches in width, and 1 inch in height. The foam/foam box weighs a mere 1.8 ounces and the foam/8-window weighs 2.1 ounces. The foam/foam unit sports a flat foam cover and a ripple foam base, while the foam/8-window model sports a flat foam lid and 8 spring-loaded, glass-windowed compartments, approximately 1.5 x 1.75 inches square. Both boxes are made of high quality aluminum and rival the quality and performance of other great aluminum box manufacturers but at a fraction of the cost.
