209ae714-75bf-473c-b714-01bc689e200eSepulveda, CA, Project Healing Waters Veterans Mike Bertell, Tom Vogel, and Gary Bergantino spent the weekend of October 22 / 23, on Hot Creek Ranch, in Mammoth Lakes, CA.

Hot Creek is a classic spring creek fishery. Clear, cold water spewing forth from a fissure of lava rock created millions of years ago. A combination of eleven different springs make up the spring creek that flows through the private Hot Creek Ranch property. It is wonderful environment for trout and wildlife. The wild rainbow and brown trout are the primary attraction. The waters of Hot Creek Ranch are catch and release, barbless hooks, and dry fly only with no wading allowed.

Known as a “technical” (read “challenging”) fishery, with the assistance of guides Kevin Peterson (Ranch Manager / Resident), and long time Mammoth area guide Eric “Otis” Hein, Mike Tom and Gary all caught and released numerous native Rainbow and Brown trout.

Mid-day breaks, and evenings were time to relax, and enjoy the sound of the creek, and spectacular views of the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains.
