The PHW Spotlight is our way of shining a bright light on those members of our PHW family whose accomplishments and contributions inspire us all.

These individuals, and their stories, are an essential part of the healing journey happening for Veterans across the country. Project Healing Waters transcends fly fishing and these Spotlights are a glimpse into what is happening throughout our programs. We are honored to share these with you each week.

While this week is National Small Business Week, we are indebted every week of the year to the small businesses that so generously support our mission. From fly shops to guide services to manufacturers and the many small businesses of every type across the country that donate their time, money, and soul to heal Veterans in-need, we thank you!

How Long Have You Been Supporting Project Healing Waters?

8+ years.

What Inspired You To Support Project Healing Waters?

Pete and his family believe in the American way that Veterans have brought to our country.  They want to give back not only to the local Veterans but also to the local community.  They believe in protecting the waterways and sharing the outdoors with everyone.

What Is Your Favorite Activity With Project Healing Waters? Why?

Getting out on the Water! Pete loves to fish and be on the streams.  He loves to share information on how to read the waters and educate in the use of different casting forms.  He especially loves to tell the fishing stories after for everyone to enjoy!

What Do You Look Forward To With Project Healing Waters In The Upcoming Year? Why?

Helping more people get outside and on the water is what Pete looks forward to every day.  Also, if it involves talking fly fishing, Pete will be there: this is his life, dream, and passion!

From fly shops to guide services to manufacturers and the many small businesses of every type across the country that donate their time, money, and soul to heal Veterans in-need, we thank you!

Here’s a bit more about Tail Finn:

Tail Finn is a collaboration of artists, photographers, running coaches, bull riders, and fish hippies. Our first and foremost objective is to protect the dynamic, but fragile aquatic ecosystems here in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Through education by participation in fair chase, catch-and-release fly fishing we hope to be good examples of our motto “Leave it nicer than you found it.”

The Black Hills of South Dakota is strong medicine, and our team of professional guides will work hard to show you some of its hidden gems. Anglers of all abilities, no matter gender or age, are welcome to fish with us. Our seasoned group of guides want you to have fun, catch fish, and hopefully learn a thing or two about the sport we so dearly love.

Come explore with us. Come share in the joy that only a fly rod can provide. Above all else, come see the Black Hills in a way you’ve never known possible! If you like good vibes, scenic views, and hungry fish… we’ll see you upstream!

The PHW Spotlight will publish each Friday morning on www.projecthealingwaters.org. Learn more about this inspiring series HERE
