On October 4, 2012, the Alexandria Seaport Foundation announced its commitment to build six boats in 18 months for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing

The announcement came as Alexandria Seaport Foundation executive director Kent Barnekov and Foundation board member Rex Wagner presented a newly repaired fishing boat to Project Healing Waters Fly Flying’s National Capital Region.

Accepting the boat were PHWFF National Capital Regional Director George Gaines and Roger Carlsen. The boat, damaged in a storm, was repaired by the staff and apprentices in the foundation’s boat building program.

The boat will be taken to Point Pleasant Farm in St. Michael’s, MD. Point Pleasant Farm was introduced to PHWFF participants in August at this year’s Stars and Stripers tournament. The addition of watercraft will allow participants to make full use of the all the property has to offer on future outings.
