By Chuck Coronato – Assistant Program Lead – PHW Northeast New Jersey

On January 15, PHW participants Peter Cullen and Dennis Kopec of the Northeast New Jersey program were presented specially made quilts from the Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF). Carol Johnson, group leader of the Sussex County Quilters, represented QOVF and made the presentations to Pete and Dennis at VFW Post 7086 in Midland Park, New Jersey.

Peter Cullen is an Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War, and Dennis Kopec is a Navy Veteran who also served in Vietnam. Both men are very active participants in Project Healing Waters, and all of the participants and volunteers in the Northeast NJ program who were present that evening showed their warmth and happiness for these very deserving gentlemen.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. Anyone wishing to nominate a Veteran for a Quilt of Valor can contact the organization at www.QOVF.org for information.
