Rod Building 101 in Merritt Island, Florida
Volunteers and veteran participants from the Viera, FL Program gathered in Merritt Island, FL for an afternoon introduction to rod building. The participants have all become good fly tiers and this introductory class was a natural progression in the sport.
Program Lead John Boyer attended the two hour class and took pictures of this first session. The class schedule was laid out alongside desired accomplishments and progression with these first builds. At this meeting, participants marked their rods spine and located where guides would be placed – laying a great foundation for the next meeting which will focus on reel seats and handles. A few brave souls were captivated by the process and were lent equipment so they could wrap their guides at home.
The next class is scheduled for February 18, 2017.
