Matthew Irving joins the Project Healing Waters Board of Trustees with a deep, lifelong commitment to serving the veteran community, forged over decades of personal involvement and professional experience. His affinity for those who have served began during his collegiate years, where he graduated from the distinguished Virginia Military Institute with a B.A. in International Studies and completed the rigorous four-year Marine Corps Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program.
Following his academic career, this foundational dedication was immediately put into practice through consistent volunteer service. Mr. Irving has given his time regularly to his local Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital, providing direct support to veterans in their care. He has also been a passionate volunteer at numerous Winter Sports Clinic events, helping disabled veterans find therapeutic healing and camaraderie through adaptive sports.
Professionally, Mr. Irving brings over 25 years of high-level corporate experience as an Enterprise Technology Sales Leader, primarily focused on the U.S. public sector and cloud transformation. He has extensive experience leading digital modernization initiatives within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), and major civilian agencies. This includes directly supporting VA mission-critical outcomes through cloud-native solutions, cybersecurity transformation, and data platform adoption, such as delivering a critical logging & observability platform for the VA to help secure Veteran data. His unique blend of private sector acumen and deep institutional knowledge of the VA system positions him to be an asset to Project Healing Waters.
Mr. Irving is honored to contribute to an organization that so effectively recognizes the great service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans. He is eager to apply the spirit of service, dedication, and understanding cultivated throughout his career and volunteer work to Project Healing Waters, helping to further the mission of physical and emotional healing for our nation’s disabled veterans.
