Montrose veteran participants attended their first fly fishing outing at Ridgway State Park. A winter wonderland in the morning yielded to warm sunny skies in the afternoon. Participants received individual orientation by volunteer mentors from Gunnison Gorge Anglers. Everyone caught several trout and a couple of participants even got to experience landing one of the elusive cutthroats. We took time to appreciate a pair of bald eagles dance above our pavilion and witnessed an osprey crash into a glassy pond to capture lunch. Many thanks to Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) personnel for their continued support of this annual event. – Assistant Program Lead, Kent Chavet
