Jim Sharman

Board of Trustees

Jim Sharman serves on the Board of Trustees for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHW), helping advance the organization’s mission of healing America’s Veterans through the therapeutic art of fly fishing, meaningful connection, community, and time on the water.

A seasoned public company executive, board chair, and operating leader, Jim has spent more than four decades leading public companies, private equity-backed businesses, and founder-led organizations through periods of growth, transformation, and innovation. His career has spanned executive leadership in corporate governance, operations, finance, mergers and acquisitions, global supply chain, and organizational strategy, partnering with boards, founders, and investors to build enduring organizations.

Jim has held senior executive leadership positions including President & COO of GoHealth, COO of Coyote Logistics, President & CEO of World Kitchen, and senior leadership roles with
CNH/Case Corporation and International Paper. He also founded Truecast Capital, a private investment firm, and currently serves as Chairman of The Shyft Group while advising several
private equity-backed companies and corporate boards.

Before his business career, Jim served nine years in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain. His military service included leadership assignments in the United States and Germany, and he later returned to the United States Military Academy at West Point as a faculty member, helping develop the next generation of Army leaders.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was a four-year varsity football player, and later received his Master of
Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Jim was drawn to Project Healing Waters because he believes America’s Veterans deserve the same unwavering commitment from their communities that they demonstrated in protecting our nation’s freedoms. “Our Veterans deserve more than we can ever give them,” he says. “They did their part protecting our freedom – it’s our turn now.”

While Jim has spent a lifetime leading organizations, he feels most at home surrounded by family and friends. One of his greatest joys is watching his children become exceptional parents
and being an active part of his grandchildren’s lives. Whether spending time outdoors, serving others, or investing in organizations that make a lasting difference, Jim believes the greatest rewards in life are found through relationships, service, and giving back.

As a Trustee, Jim brings extensive executive leadership experience, strategic insight, and a lifelong commitment to service as Project Healing Waters continues to expand its impact on Veterans, volunteers, and communities across the nation.
