Even though catching a big fish is always good, in this tournament it may not be good enough to earn bragging rights. The “Grand Slam Challenge” makes reference to the three species of trout that call these waters home. The angler or anglers that catch a specimen of rainbow, brook, and brown trout, all in that one day will ultimately be declared the winner. Assisting the veterans and sponsors are a contingency of professional guides who would like nothing better than to see their boat take top honors. Expect to see some competitiveness but also expect to see all of the traits that make the Smokey Mountain Grand Slam something you don’t want to miss.
A special guest at this year’s tournament will be world renowned angler and fly-tier Kelly Galloup.
