efa41770-28f2-4823-88da-211b96ef6c50The 3rd Annual Smoky Mountain Grand Slam Challenge will be held September 2-3, 2016 in, and around, Knoxville, TN to raise funds and awareness of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and the injured and disabled veterans we serve. A fundraising banquet will precede Saturday’s fishing tournament and will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 6pm to 9pm at the Foundry on the Fair in Knoxville, TN.

This is the third year for the Smoky Mountain Grand Slam Challenge which is kicking off Friday, September 2nd, 2016 with a fundraising banquet and silent auction starting at 6:00 P.M. at the Foundry on the Fair in Knoxville followed Saturday morning with a fly fishing tournament at the Clinch River-Miller’s Island.  The Tennessee Valley Program of Project Healing Waters knows how to do things right and we expect another fun evening with our friends and community partners.  Come experience some true southern hospitality and help raise money for our veterans at the same time.

On Friday, appetizers and bidding for the silent auction items will take place from 6:00 until dinner at 7:15.  Dinner will be followed by a short program beginning at 8:00 before transitioning to the live auction.   This is a great environment in which to meet the veterans, the professional guides, and the generous supporters that have sponsored teams fishing in Saturdays fun and exciting tournament.  There are still seats and sponsorship opportunities available, to learn more please visit to learn more.

Even though catching a big fish is always good, in this tournament it may not be good enough to earn bragging rights.  The “Grand Slam Challenge” makes reference to the three species of trout that call these waters home.  The angler or anglers that catch a specimen of rainbow, brook, and brown trout, all in that one day will ultimately be declared the winner.  Assisting the veterans and sponsors are a contingency of professional guides who would like nothing better than to see their boat take top honors.  Expect to see some competitiveness but also expect to see all of the traits that make the Smokey Mountain Grand Slam something you don’t want to miss.

A special guest at this year’s tournament will be world renowned angler and fly-tier Kelly Galloup.
