Islamorada, FL  (September 19, 2018) – From September 25th through 28th, Fish With a Hero will be partnering with Project Healing Waters to bring 25 wounded and disabled veterans to Islamorada for two days of guided fishing out of Bass Pro Shops World Wide Sportsman. Activities include offshore and back country fly and bait fishing.  Participants benefit from the curative power of being on the water with other disabled veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (“PTSD”), Traumatic Brain Injury (“TBI”) and other disabilities and wounds of war.

On Tuesday, September 25th, there will be an opening night Heroes Welcome reception at Islamorada Fish Company from 6 to 8 PM. The public is encouraged to attend.  Special opening night highlights include Dougie from Thunder Country FM 100.3 and a showcase of antique military vehicles from Monroe Marauders Military Vehicle Club. Major event sponsors include Bass Pro Shops, Radco Industries, FreeWheeler Realty and FreeWheeler Vacations.

“We invite everyone from the Keys community and those visiting the Keys to attend in order to help us welcome our 25 wounded and disabled veterans,” says Captain Mark Gibson, Director of Florida Keys Operations for Fish With A Hero. “These 25 heroes have been selected from among the best of over 8,400 participants in Project Healing Waters programs nationwide,” he adds.

Fish With a Hero, Inc. is a public charity and Florida not-for-profit corporation qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
