Bernard Victor Kreh “Lefty” passed away on March 14, 2018 in the presence of his family.  We remember Lefty for his wisdom, humor, and generous spirit. He will be missed by all.  Rest in peace.

A member of the greatest generation, Lefty served this country with honor from 1942 to 1947 and is a combat veteran from the Battle of the Bulge. He continued his service as a generous supporter of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, selflessly giving his time and sharing his talents and knowledge with our disabled active military and disabled veterans.

For more than 50 years as an outdoor writer and fly fishing instructor, Lefty Kreh touched more lives and converted more people to fly fishing than anyone ever has or ever likely will. He was truly a servant to the fly fishing community, having given selflessly with his teaching skills, innovations and humor, and adding immeasurably to the level of enjoyment and satisfaction that many of us have experienced from the sport of fly fishing.

A note from his family posted to their All the best for Lefty Kreh Facebook Page:
“Lefty would want us to celebrate life and not mourn him.  He passed peacefully and with no pain. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. At the time of his death, a hard wind shook the house as if he was taking the winds home to my Grandma.

As he got me into photography, he once told me he had to carry a camera with him because you never know when something may take your breath away and you want to take it home for later.
So on ending this, I know myself and all of you are going to look to the water now, and if you come to a spot where something takes your breath away, I’m going to feel his presence each time and take a photo. That way I can take a bit of the inspiration and his spirit back home with me.

Tight Lines, best wishes, and All The Best,

Sam and The Kreh Family”
