Volunteer Matt Seymour of the PHWFF Coatesville, PA Program shares his weekly update on the great happenings with this program in our Pennsylvania Region:
Last Week
We had a splendid week with the vets last week: 7 vets, 8 volunteers. Two of our vets are building rods provided by Project Healing Waters. These rods will be entered into a national contest. Many thanks to Ed Penry , Jack McFadden and Jack Mikaviecz. for guiding this project.  It was edifying to see one of our best vet tyers teaching two of his buddies how to tie a wooly bugger. This particular vet was leaving for home this week and will be sorely missed.  We also welcomed a new “occasional” volunteer, Karen DelRaso. With Georgeanne McManus & Betsy Miraglia, Karen will become an important part of our initiative to draw more female vets to our services.

This Week (
We’re expecting 10-12 vets to participate in our first 2017 outing. On Wednesday evening in lieu of our normal meeting at the Medical Center we’ll be visiting Orvis in Downingtown for a crash Fly-Fishing 101 class. This will followed by dinner at the Olive Garden! Thanks to Dan Ogren, Fishing Manager at Orvis, for facilitating this night out.
Needs

Thanks to Orvis Plymouth Meeting, Dame Juliana League,  the Main Line Fly tyers. and the generosity of our benefactors, we have about 7-8 workable fly rods to send home with our vets who demonstrate an abiding interest in fly-fishing. We would appreciate some reels. If you have a dusty one sitting in a drawer, please think about giving it to us. Thanks!
