Phil Johnson Exceptional Leadership Award

By Chuck Kramer, PHW Eglin

Project Healing Waters Eglin had the honor of presenting the Phil Johnson Exceptional Leadership Award to Gregg Houghaboom last night at the joint PHW Eglin & Panhandle Fly Fishers (PFF) Christmas party.

Gregg Houghaboom was nominated for the Phil Johnson Leadership Award not only because of his continuous contributions to our Veterans and the program, but also due to the fact that for most of 2024 Gregg ran the administrative part of the Eglin Program from his hospital bed in Arkansas.  Rick Mungeam was acknowledged for his willingness to step up and run the physical meetings in Gregg’s absence.

Chuck Kramer, Deputy Regional Coordinator for Florida also presented Gregg with his retirement coin to show his personal appreciation for Gregg’s dedication.

The two of them are exceptional leaders and Florida is grateful for their volunteerism to Project Healing Waters.

Additionally, Rick Mungeam received his Certificate of Appreciation for stepping in for Gregg while he was out.

On behalf of our partner organization, PHW participant and incoming PFF President Kevin Randolph presented a plaque to Cody Wells (PHW participant/volunteer) for serving as president of PFF for the past five years. Wonderfully, 80% of the PFF members are also in PHW!

It was an honor to present these awards to two amazing volunteer leaders on behalf of our amazing organization!
