La Plata, MD — May 22, 2019 – Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF) is honored to announce it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $20,000, which will fund the on-going programmatic activities of fly fishing, fly tying, and rod building instruction, classes, and clinics for the injured and disabled active duty military personnel and disabled veterans served by PHWFF nationwide.
Todd Desgrosseilliers (USMC Col. Ret.), President and CEO of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. said, “We are proud to continue our relationship with the Disabled Veterans National Foundation. This grant will enable us to continue providing the educational and core-program activities necessary to best serve our Nation’s wounded, ill, and injured active duty military and disabled veterans at Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers nationwide.”
Joseph VanFonda (USMC Sgt.Maj. Ret.), CEO of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation said, “We are proud to support Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc., as they continue to make a positive impact in veterans’ lives. We would like to congratulate and thank them for their commitment to serving the men and women who served in defense of our country.”
PHWFF is unique in that its volunteers are teaching classes on an on-going, long term basis. It is much more than a one-time fishing trip. For many participants, particularly disabled veterans, the socialization and camaraderie of the classes are just as important as the fishing outings and provide them a new activity and community.
