The 6th Annual Healing on the Fly – New York City
New York City has an inspiring and unwavering patriotism in support of our nation’s ideals and those individuals who serve, and sacrifice, to defend its virtues. This was particularly evident on October 1, 2019 at The Metropolitan Club during the 6th Annual Healing on the Fly New York event. This exhilarating event strengthened Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing’s efforts to reach disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans in New York, New Jersey and throughout the United States.
Presented by Aon, a leading global professional services firm, this exclusive evening brought together New Yorkers, veterans, anglers, and advocates for an evening supporting the thousands of disabled veterans served each year by Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF).
This annual event was co-chaired by two great PHWFF supporters and champions: Commissioner of Major League Soccer, Don Garber and Businessman Michael Bateman, VP of Willis Towers Watson. Thanks to their leadership, a special evening commenced in the heart of patriotic New York City. The evening featured Master of Ceremonies, Erik Schatzker of Bloomberg, Sgt (ret) Lisa Ornelas U.S. Army who shared her personal story of recovery, and special presentation by PHWFF CEO, Todd Desgrosseilliers. (Patriot Award bestowed upon Don Garber for his Extraordinary Service)
For over a decade, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing has focused on healing those who serve. The evening raised over $340,000 for PHWFF and the disabled veterans and active-duty military service personal served nationwide. Thanks to the incredible contributions of our sponsors, this will directly aid in bringing our unique form of therapy to more injured and disabled veterans and active military than ever before.
