The PHWFF organization served as the sponsor for the event with support from the Greenwell Foundation which provided coordination services, fishing rods, and bottom rigs; the MSSA and PFC which provided boats for the event; the Tackle Box of Lexington Park, Maryland, which donated ten dozen blood worms; and Mission BBQ of California, Maryland, which donated a delicious free lunch for all the wounded warriors and the support personnel.
This event gives testimony to the fact that when diverse organizations join together to support a common goal of supporting wounded warriors, amazing things can happen. The event was deemed very successful by all the participants and laid the groundwork for a joint effort to establish a permanent Project Healing Waters program in southern Maryland. Future events are now in the planning phase to continue throughout the year at Greenwell State Park.
