A fantastic meeting at Camp Lejeune, Wounded Warrior Battalion – East
The Crystal Coast PHWFF Program held their first meeting abroad at Camp Lejeune with the Wounded Warrior Battalion – East. “The gathering was fantastic, says volunteer Chris Thompson, “13 Marines showed up, along with a few of our regular Participants. None of the new Participants had ever tied a fly or held a fly rod.”
The group tied a simple gurgler adaptation, held a casting lesson, and then tied on their completed flies to try their luck in the Battalion’s small pond.
Some of those Marines caught their first fish on a fly AND on a fly they just tied! It just doesn’t get any better than that.
Thanks to all the volunteers that made this happen for those participants involved. The Crystal Coast PHWFF meetings will continue at Camp Lejeune Wounded Warrior Battalion-East the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
