Longtime PHWFF participant and volunteer AJ Morris passed away along with his wife Jasmine and daughter Gracie on July 2, 2020. They will be deeply missed by all in our Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing family.  Our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time. Those who had the pleasure of their company will always cherish the impact they had on their life. 

Services for Andrew and his wife and daughter will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Webster County High School, with Pastor Carl Griffin and Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Carpenter Family Cemetery, Erbacon, WV with Fireman’s Last Call for Badge 1501 and Military Graveside Rites conducted by American Legion Post #62. Andrew Joshua Morris (AJ), 37, of Erbacon, WV departed this life along with his wife Jasmine Taylor Morris and daughter Gracie on July 2, 2020.

Andrew was the son of David Morris and Patricia Morris Sutphin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Edith and Jack Messer of Webster Springs and Gladys and Argel Morris of Cowen, Louie Mathews of Upper Glade and Betty Sutphin of Oak Hill.

Left behind to mourn his loss are his mom and dad, Stepmother Brenda Morris, stepdad Allen Sutphin, step grandmother Carol Mathews of Upper Glade, siblings Nicole (Rich) Roberts of Sod, WV, Eric Bragg of Upper Glade, Dawn Deaton of Ohio, Doug Morris of St. Albans, Jason Sutphin, Sherrie (Roger) Posten of Birch River plus numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles along with special friends, Frank Toothman, Brian Mullens, Estill Mullens, special uncle Claude Weese and many more friends.

After graduating from Webster County High School, he joined the US Army Reserve and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. After returning home he became an EMT and then a diesel mechanic. He was a former employee of Webster County EMS and Gil’s Contracting. Injuries forced him to return to EMS duties. He and his family attended the First Community Church in Erbacon.

AJ was a member of the Cowen Volunteer Fire Department and was currently the Fire Chief of Erbacon Fire Department. He was associated with Project Healing Waters, an organization for Veterans. Andrew was a Disabled Veteran. He will be missed by all who knew him.
