At Project Healing Waters, we believe healing happens in community. That belief was on full display recently when we had the privilege of welcoming the team from Huber Engineered Woods for an evening of connection, storytelling, and fly tying alongside the Veterans we serve.

Partnerships like this make the mission of Project Healing Waters possible.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to Huber Engineered Woods for their incredibly thoughtful and generous support of our veterans and the Project Healing Waters community.

Recently, members of the Huber team joined us for a special evening that included a check presentation, conversations with Veterans, and a hands on fly tying experience. The event created space for meaningful dialogue, shared stories, and a deeper understanding of how fly fishing can help Veterans reconnect with purpose, community, and the outdoors.

The evening also highlighted the importance of programs that bring Veterans together, from local gatherings and fly tying classes to national destination fishing trips that many participants describe as life changing. Support from organizations like Huber helps make these experiences possible for the Veterans we serve across the country.

Jennifer Durand at Huber had the following to say: “From first learning about PHW and their overall mission, I’ve felt a sincere drive to help spread the amazing work that is being done to support our Veterans. The impact of PHW’s programs is truly inspiring, and I am honored to play even a small part in helping share their story and further their mission. This experience will always hold a special place in my heart, and I’m thrilled to continue our partnership with PHW as we work together to expand their reach, deepen our impact, and support the incredible veterans they serve.”

Our very own Josh Christian had the following to say: “We could not be more grateful for this incredibly thoughtful and generous act of support by the J.M. Huber Corporation, Huber Engineered Woods and Huber Helps. Their holistic approach to building healing pathways, fostering community, and providing national destination fly fishing experiences for Project Healing Waters Veterans is both humbling and inspiring. We look forward to continuing to partner with Huber to heal those who serve.”

A special note of gratitude goes out to the PHW Charlotte chapter. Under the selfless leadership of Program Lead Joseph Parente, they welcomed the Huber team with open arms and truly demonstrated the power of how a local community can pave the way for healing journeys, fellowship, and camaraderie.

We were also inspired to see members of the Huber team jump in feet first during the fly tying session, learning the craft alongside the Veterans and volunteers who make this community so special. Moments like these remind us that the healing power of fly fishing often begins with something simple: sitting down together, sharing stories, and tying a fly.

To the entire Huber team, thank you for believing in this mission and for investing in the lives of the Veterans we serve. We look forward to many more opportunities to fish together, share stories, and continue building this partnership.
