Message from the PHW CEO
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is preparing for the holidays and the short few weeks left in 2025. The holidays can be challenging for some of us, for many reasons. Loss of a loved one or friend; not being near family; work or financial challenges; they’re all “real life” things that can feel magnified during the holidays. One of the best things about Project Healing Waters is the connections and the “continuity of community” that we all share. I encourage all of us to be more intentional about those connections over the next few weeks. Reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while, maybe a fellow Participant you met at Freedom Ranch or Oak Heart Lodge. Service to others is a big part of who we are as an organization, and during this time, let’s all look for ways we can serve others in meaningful ways. When we give ourselves to others, it translates into gratitude. Gratitude for being able to help someone, do a buddy check, and catch up, and for the gratitude we receive from the ones we give our time and attention to. Gratitude is a powerful emotion, and as Woody Boyd, our Colorado Springs Program Lead, articulates so well in this newsletter, it doesn’t require perfect circumstances. It just requires attention.
