Each year we are amazed at the number of videos which beautifully capture stories born from our unique kind of therapy and the work being done by our volunteers across the country. Here are a few of our favorites from the past year

The NBC Nightly News:  Wounded Veterans Find Peace Through the Serenity of Fly Fishing We were honored to have our organization and veterans featured on The NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt on July 4. 2016.  This special piece encapsulates our mission, scope, and unique form of therapy.

CPT (ret) Alvin Shell, U.S. Army  CPT (ret) The 10th Annual 2-Fly Tournament Veteran Participants were PHWFF 2-Fly Alumni from the past decade who have been immersed in, and strengthened by, our healing waters.  He was not only a competitor in the tournament (and winner!) but he also spoke at the pre-tournament Saturday night dinner and shared his story with those gathered.

The 10th Annual 2-Fly Tournament: Tom Brokaw Keynote Address Distinguished journalist Tom Brokaw addressed Veterans, volunteers, and special guests from across the country who had gathered for the 10th Annual Project Healing Waters 2-Fly Tournament at Rose River Farm on April 30, 2016. Addressing over 300 people, his remarks touched upon service, volunteerism, duty, patriotism, and sacrifice.

The Veterans of PHWFF Kansas City This beautiful short film from Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Greater Kansas City Area highlights our program, the veterans it serves, and the communities built through our unique form of therapy.

SSG (ret) Robert Bartlett, U.S. Army The 10th Annual 2-Fly Tournament Veteran Participants were PHWFF 2-Fly Alumni from the past decade who have been immersed in, and strengthened by, our healing waters. SSG (ret) Robert Bartlett, US Army, was not only a competitor in the tournament but he also spoke at the pre-tournament Saturday night dinner and shared his story with those gathered.

Introducing the Able Women Initiative This new outreach program is designed to spread the word about fly fishing and the many emotional, physical and spiritual benefits it brings. You may recognize the familiar faces of PHWFF Ambassadors Kimberly Smith USMC, and Jessica Callihan, U.S. Navy in the video!

Wilderness North: Healing on the Albany This past August, Wilderness North hosted their 8th Annual Healing on the Albany event — welcoming Project Healing Waters veterans and service member participants to their Miminiska Lodge for a memorable experience in the cool green boreal forest of Ontario.

Emerger: A U.S. Marine on Combat and Fly Fishing In “Emerger” the team at “Where the River Runs” tells the story of Sergeant Wes Dyer, United States Marine Corps. The short film shares how Wes was able to find a renewed sense of purpose and peace through fly fishing. Sergeant Wes Dyer, USMC, is a current volunteer/participant with the Albuquerque, NM Program who shares his love and knowledge of fly fishing freely with his fellow veterans and PHWFF volunteers.

Arizona Game and Fish Department hosts PHWFF at Silver Creek The Arizona Game and Fish Department hosts the wounded warriors of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing at Silver Creek on opening day of catch-and-release season. It’s a prime opportunity to catch some really big fish!
