On Saturday, September 25 the Roanoke/New River Valleys Program enjoyed a fishing event hosted by Derek and Brenda Norwinski and Norwinski Insurance Agency, Inc.

Before the event, the hosts made sure to stock the stream specifically for this PHWFF event. Participants and volunteers enjoyed a beautiful sunny day, caught lots of fish, and enjoyed each other’s company.

One of the most special moments was sharing a picnic lunch streamside. We were able to enjoy the special comradery of our program and share it with our hosts. The participants gathered a long the beautiful banks and were sharing which techniques and flies were working for everyone.

Volunteer Kathy Mueller

Volunteer Kathy Mueller would like to thank Derek and Brenda Norwinski and Norwinski Insurance Agency, Inc. for hosting a fantastic day of fly fishing on their private property in Northeast Roanoke. Because of their generosity and stocking the stream, all of the veteran participants were able to bring a trout or two to the net.

And as a special surprise, an adjoining landowner also offered their property for the participants to use.

“We were all able to spread out and catch plenty of fish!” Mueller exclaimed.
