Wounded Veterans Coming to the Keys

e385f857-fb8a-4ddc-8471-8a4fa82b5741February 19, 2014 Marathon, Florida–This coming September, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF), together with Florida Keys fraternal and veterans organizations, will be hosting a three day fishing trip for disabled active military service personnel and veterans.

Up to forty (40) participants from VA and military hospitals in middle and Eastern Tennessee will be housed on Pigeon Key, a historic island located below the seven mile bridge in Marathon.  A world-class fishing experience will be provided to each wounded veteran through the generosity of professional Florida Keys charter captains.  Bill Coyne, Project Healing Waters Regional Coordinator, stated that “although plans are still being formed, we are looking for volunteers and donations from all Florida Keys groups and organizations.  The Key Colony Beach Fishing Club, the Veterans Council of Monroe County, and the Monroe Marauders have already provided a great deal of support and have pledged to continue to do so.  We want to include as many local community organizations and individuals as possible in our efforts to show our gratitude for the sacrifice these wounded heroes have made.”

Additional specifics on the event will be made available as they develop.
