La Plata, MD  – American Airlines recently donated more than 1.5 million AAdvantage miles to support a nonprofit dedicated to serving injured and disabled veterans across the country.

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF), a nonprofit that supports disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing has continued their strong partnership with American Airlines.

Through this powerful partnership, American Airlines provided disabled veterans in the PHWFF program with the trip of lifetime at no cost to the organization or veteran.  In 2018 alone, over 35 American heroes from PHWFF programs across the United States embarked on journeys to recovery with American Airlines. Traveling to world-class fishing destinations such as Wise River, Montana; Grayling, Michigan; the Florida Keys; and Boise, Idaho provided them with a special healing experience and a trip of a lifetime.

Longtime PHWFF volunteer leader and current American Airlines pilot, Captain Curt Boatman has continued to work with American Airlines to strengthen the partnership and to support both American Airlines and the PHWFF organization in serving the disabled veteran population.

“I’m proud to work for a company that is willing to help those who served our country, like American Airlines does on a daily basis.” Captain Curt Boatman DCA

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing will continue to use this generous donation from American Airlines to support their program activities and to further support our nation’s veterans on their journey of healing and recovery.
