La Plata, MD May, 21, 2016- Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF) is honored to announce it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $10,000, which will fund the on-going programmatic activities of fly tying, fly fishing, and rod building instruction, classes, and clinics for the injured and disabled active duty military personnel and disabled veterans served by PHWFF nationwide.âFly fishing provides disabled veterans in our Programs the opportunity to adjust to their new abilities in a fun, practiced way while diffusing their problems and frustrations through a connection to nature and their community, said Ellen Killough, CEO of PHWFF. âThe hands-on, educational opportunities offered through the partnership with DVNF will enable these veterans to further their own journeys of recovery.â

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.

DVNF achieves this mission by:
- Offering direct financial support to veteran organizations that address the unique needs of veterans, and whose missions align with that of DVNF.
- Providing supplemental assistance to homeless and low-income veterans through the Health & Comfort program and various empowerment resources.
- Providing an online resource database that allows veterans to navigate the complex process of seeking benefits that they are entitled to as a result of their military service, as well as additional resources they need.
- Serving as a thought leader on critical policy issues within the veteran community, and educating the public accordingly.

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. began in 2005 serving wounded military service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since then, PHWFF has expanded nationwide, establishing over 200 highly successful programs in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and clinics. In 2015 alone, PHWFF served 7,424 injured and disabled military service personnel and disabled veterans.
