Starting in 2019, the Ft. Lewis Program, moved two of its four monthly tying nights from the Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB), to the Puget Sound Fly Company, allowing greater access and bring in guest tiers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people in different ways. Stay at home orders, self-isolation, no recreational fishing, but none of these compares to what it’s done to small businesses. Our local fly shop, Puget Sound Fly Company (PSFC), has had its doors closed since March.

Over the past year, PSFC, in Tacoma, WA, has provided phenomenal support for our Program. We tie flies at their shop twice per month.  They have donated time, materials, and food to our program as well as equipment for last year’s Healing Saturday – which was held at their shop. However, with the COVID-19 situation, they are no longer in operation, and so far, they have not been unsuccessful receiving any of the small business loans available. They desperately need some help. We’re doing what we can to recognize their amazing support of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, however, I bet there’s a lot of brick & mortar fly shops out there in the same situation.

Reach out to your local fly shops or any businesses that support your Program. See how they’re doing, let people know if they need help, and visit their web sites or social media.
