By Jim McRoberts, Program Lead – Project Healing Waters Seattle, WA

Each year The Fly Fishing Show tours the country bringing fly fishing enthusiasts new products, vendors, classes, demos, seminars, as well as hosting fly tiers & authors.  For the past 10 years the Seattle Program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) has manned a booth informing the public about PHWFF, finding veterans in need, and recruiting volunteers to help heal disabled veterans.  Besides the public at our booth you often see vendors from the show reaffirming their support.

We man the booth from opening to closing both days.  The Program members do a great job as you can see people walking around the show with PHWFF handouts and wearing swag.  Our booth is one everyone stops at and chats because the community knows the work we do with the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.  The Seattle fly fishing community is a tight-knit group due to our unique fishing environment.  We have everything from urban lakes, Steelhead/Salmon streams, and saltwater in the Puget Sound.  All of which we access in or around the greater Seattle area.

PHWFF Seattle Program

Highlights of the weekend is when we find veterans in need and bring them into Seattle Program family or signup a new volunteer.  We want to thank PHWFF HQ & NW Region Leadership for their support, and of course everyone who stopped by the booth.
