Rod building is one of the core programs Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing utilizes to support veterans through their healing process. This week Oregon’s Umpqua Program, provided stations, materials, and rod blanks to 12 Douglas County veterans to build their very own rods – most for the first time!

Through the dedication of patient volunteers and many hours of work, each veteran will walk away with a fly rod of their very own (at not cost to them). Veterans will then be able to enter their rods into the PHWFF national competition. Just for entering, first time rod builders will receive a reel and fly line to match their rod.

This year’s rod building classes wouldn’t be possible without our community supporter, Phoenix Charter School of Roseburg. We also appreciate Douglas County Fire District #2 for supporting our 2020 rod building classes.
