Veterans, volunteers, and celebrities from across the country will gather at Rose River Farm in Syria, Virginia on April 28 – 29, 2018 for the 12th Annual 2-Fly Tournament benefiting Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc (PHWFF) and the thousands of disabled veterans the organization serves each year.  Joining PHWFF for the weekend will be numerous special guests and we’re pleased to announce that renowned angler and tier Blane Chocklett will among them!  Blane is a long-time supporter of our cause and we’re honored (and lucky!) that he will generously provide fly tying and fly fishing clinics for the disabled veterans competing in Sunday’s tournament!

Veteran competitors SPC Lee Barbee and CPT (ret) Beth Steinberger enjoyed a private casting lesson last year during the 11th Annual 2-Fly Tournament

Blane grew up fishing the small mountain streams near his home in Blue Ridge, Va. As a youngster he started a guiding service and in the late 90s, opened Blue Ridge Fly Fishers in Richmond, Virginia– one of the most respected full service fly shops in the region.  He quickly gained huge following with his creative and extremely effective fly patterns.  Blane has worked for years to create patterns that have all the intricate nuances of flies, with the strike-generating action of conventional lures. These new patterns serve to not only inspire fly fishermen but compel new and conventional anglers to try fly fishing.

About a decade ago, Blane returned to the river where he now owns and operates the New Angle Fishing Company, which specializes in float trips for everything from musky and smallmouth bass to stripers. Blane has served on the board of the American Fly Tackle Trade Association (AFFTA) and has worked as a consultant to several fly fishing companies. Many of Blane’s highly innovative fly patterns are produced through UMPQUA Feather Merchants.

“He is one of the most innovative fly tiers and wonderfully creative fly fisherman I know. Blane is an excellent member of the TFO family.” – Lefty Kreh

For a over a decade Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF)  has focused on healing those who serve.  It is through the tremendous contributions of our volunteers and supporters nationwide that last year we served over 8,400 deserving members of our armed services.   The 12th Annual 2-Fly Tournament will serve to raise funds to provide veterans with the support they need on their journeys to recovery  Learn more
