Phil Johnson Exceptional Leadership Award

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) takes great pleasure in presenting the Patriot Award to Ropes & Gray LLP, for their exceptional support and dedication to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. from 2014 to 2021.

Through their commitment to the PHWFF mission, vision, and core values, Ropes & Gray LLP elevated Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing’s impact across the United States.  As an organization led by true patriots, Ropes & Gray LLP recognized the positive impact that Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Programs provide to all disabled veterans.  As volunteers, the Ropes & Gray team selflessly committed their time, their resources, and their influence to enable Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. to recruit additional volunteers, to serve additional participants, and to provide the resources to support them. – thereby enabling our vision to create a community where our nation’s disabled veterans can heal.

The Ropes & Gray team’s extraordinary leadership and generosity touched the lives of those central to the PHWFF mission across the country as it helped create a better future vision for us all.  Consistent with their core belief in giving back to the community, during this time, their combined support in cash donations and pro bono legal services exceeded over $1,000.000 dollars.  Additionally, as the presenting sponsor for our inaugural Healing on the Fly – Boston fundraising event in 2017, and, as the presenting sponsor for each consecutive year since then, Ropes & Gray LLP greatly enabled increased revenue and exposure for our Cause across our great nation.

Due in part to their efforts, PHWFF now includes 223 programs nationwide supported by more than 4200 volunteers serving over 9700 wounded, ill, and injured active duty military and disabled veterans.  Throughout this period, the Ropes & Gray team embodied and enabled the PHWFF mission and vision.  In their stellar example of selfless service, volunteerism, humility, and benevolence lies the inspiration that speaks volumes to our core values: Compassion, Accountability, Excellence, and Community.

All who know this great organization hold it in the highest regard and speak of its leadership and employees with utmost respect.  Therefore, let us not only measure the magnitude of their contribution to the greater good in their generous philanthropy but also in the genuine concern and positive post-traumatic growth that they provided to all who know them.  They are all true Patriots!

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is proud to bestow on Ropes & Gray LLP the Patriot Award for their tireless and extraordinary service to our organization and to those disabled active duty servicemen and servicewomen and disabled veterans whom this organization serves.
