On Wednesday June 18th, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing veteran ambassador and professional fly tier SGT Joe Jackson, U.S. Army (ret) of Sgt.Bassfisher broadcasted a virtual fly tying class live on the Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Facebook Page.
During this special event (attended by over 19,000 people!), Joe shared his story, provided entertaining stories and anecdotes of his time with PHWFF, and walked attendees through the basics of spinning, stacking and tying with deer hair. You can watch this great event below.
He tied a basic “Stacked Deer Hair Diver” – here’s what you need to tie along at home:
- Hook 2/0 universal predator x
- Tail- neck hackle or strung hackle
- Body- white tail belly hair and body hair.
- Colors – grey, natural, brown and tan.
- Eye -Any 3D eye will work
- Belly/Eye Coating- solarez bone-dry and thin
