We are excited to announce the Cape Lookout False Albacore and Redfish Festival will return to North Carolina’s Crystal Coast this year following last year’s cancellation from Hurricane Florence.  The festival will kick off on Thursday, October 24 2019 with a private day on the water for Disabled Veteran participants from Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing programs.  Friday, October 25, will see a special Captains Party followed by the tournament itself on Saturday, October 26, 2019. with an awards ceremony will take place after the tournament on Saturday evening.  The tournament will serve as fundraiser for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and the thousands of Disabled Veterans they serve nationwide.

Since 2014, the Cape Lookout Albacore and Redfish Festival has been promoting the sustainable, recreational, fall fishery for False Albacore on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. Over 120 anglers, and many more friends and families, have visited the Cape Lookout area in search of our the target species, False Albacore. Each year we’ve the festival has experienced additional growth, bringing visitors from father locations to our lovely home, and the addition of a Redfish Division in 2017. Additionally, over 125 Veterans have been able to experience this dramatic fishery on donated boats  thanks to the support of the local community.

The Cape Lookout Albacore and Redfish Festival is a fundraiser for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. It is a 2 day event open to the public, along with a private “Healing Waters Day” for disabled military Veterans. The Thursday “Healing Waters Day” is organized with PHWFF along with local boat captains, to give disabled veterans the opportunity to get out on the water and chase False Albacore on fly. The Friday of the Festival is a pre fishing day, with a Captains Party that evening at Anchorage Marina in Atlantic Beach. The Captains Party includes dinner, art and fishing gear auctions, raffles, live music, etc. Saturday is the Fishing Tournament followed up by an Awards Banquet that evening. Prizes include top of the line fishing gear and the world famous Copper Albacore and Redfish trophies. The team is working hard to make the Cape Lookout Albacore and Redfish Festival one of the premier fly fishing and angling tournaments /festival on the East Coast. We hope to see you this Fall!
