The PHW Spotlight is our way of shining a bright light on those members of our PHW family whose accomplishments and contributions inspire us all.

These individuals, and their stories, are an essential part of the healing journey happening for Veterans across the country. Project Healing Waters transcends fly fishing and these Spotlights are a glimpse into what is happening throughout our programs. We are honored to share these with you each week.

How Long Have You Been Supporting Project Healing Waters?

Almost two years.

What Inspired You To Support Project Healing Waters?

After learning about the PHW mission, Brandy recognized the need for monetary support and has been the force behind targeting her store’s financial gifts to the PHW Eglin Program. To date the PHW Eglin Program has received nearly $12,000 from her three fundraising efforts. She has also identified PHW Eglin for continued corporate support via Orvis’ 2023 GiveBack Days.

What Is Your Favorite Activity With Project Healing Waters? Why?

Brandy facilitated PHW Eglin’s recent three hour casting clinic by securing the location used for instruction, providing refreshments for the students and instructors, and donating gift bags. She also made available gear and fly lines for the event.

What Do You Look Forward To With Project Healing Waters In The Upcoming Year? Why?

PHW in-store fly tying sessions as part of the next Orvis GiveBack Days. Having PHW participants demonstrate and instruct fly tying sessions for interested community members is a great way to shine a light on both the PHW mission and fly fishing in general.

Here’s a bit more about the Orvis GiveBack Days:

“Throughout May, we’re making it easy for Orvis customers to support the local conservation and participation initiatives they are most passionate about with Giveback Days. In just three years of our Great Giveback Days program, together we’ve raised over $1M dollars for many different organizations, including Trout Unlimited, Project Healing Waters, pet adoption groups, and more. This year, our goal is to raise $500K in local store markets.

Orvis retail stores are partnering with local nonprofit organizations to help support the important work they do. Please contact or visit your local Orvis retail store for details on who they’ve chosen to partner with.” – The Orvis Company
