On September 3, in a small, covid-conscious ceremony at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, HN Braxton Clark donated $450 to the Walter Reed Program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. Braxton raised the money by selling three boxes of trout flies that he and 5 buddies tied and sold online. Braxton conducted the auction on Ebay and shared it on various social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The effort took three months last spring.
The donation ceremony was attended by CAPT Gerard Woelkers, Commanding Officer Navy Readiness and Training Command Bethesda, himself a member of PHWFF at Walter Reed. As CAPT Woelkers said “Witnessing young active duty personnel use their God given talent to benefit those in need warms my heart. HN Clark demonstrated initiative and superb marketing skills to take his idea from an idea to a check for $450 presented to Project Healing Waters.”
Those making the flies for the auction are: Braxton Clark, Paul Williams (a Walter Reed PHWFF volunteer), Nicholas Dokken, David Reid, Tim Sickles, and Devin Harmon. Great thanks to them all!
Braxton will now join the Walter Reed Program as a volunteer. We are very proud of his willingness to work with us las we continue healing vets.
