The Fayetteville, North Carolina Program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. held their annual “Catfish on the Fly” tournament in July and it turned out to be a great event.
Eleven participants and volunteers headed out to the water, where it started to get a little warm during the day, but a good time was had by all.
The winners are:
1st Place: Greg Robles with 115.25 inches of fish
2nd Place: Nelson Ramos with 60.25 inches of fish
3rd Place: Hector Gonzalez with 51.5 inches of fish
The program also started a new tradition. The ‘Keeper of the Fly’ token is a small tin with a clear lid with a large English fly inside. This tin symbolizes what this program and fly fishing should be about: caring for and helping each other. It will be presented to someone who does the the right thing when nobody is looking, or lends a helping hand without being asked. Greg Robles was presented the ‘Keeper of the Fly’ token for his help during rod building.
“Congratulations to Greg for being the initial ‘Keeper of the Fly’,” Program lead Jon Rouse exclaimed.
