The 8th Annual Battle at Boxwood will take place on Saturday July 21, 2018 at Boxwood Gulch Ranch in Shawnee, Colorado.  The Battle at Boxwood is an annual event that serves as both a fishing tournament and a fundraiser for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc and the disabled veterans we serve.  This year, The Battle at Boxwood affords you the opportunity to support this special  event and support the disabled veterans we serve.

“I am not thinking about everyday problems while I’m on the water here.  I am thinking about the gorgeous nature, clean air, and the new friends I’ve met today.  I want to help as many as I can because so many have helped me along the way.” – Lieutenant Colonel (ret) Justin Constantine, USMC at the 7th Annual Battle at Boxwood.

You can help these disabled veterans on their journeys to recovery.  Small donation go a long way.

The Battle at Boxwood is a 1 day competition comprising 10 four-man teams (each including a professional guide, sponsor, sports or entertainment celebrity, and two PHWFF veteran participants).  Thanks to the generosity of the Mauritz family and Boxwood Gulch, the event takes place on a private section of the South Platte River — a beautiful, restorative, and fish-filled environment.  Opportunities for rainbow, brown, cutthroat, cutbow, and brook trout are abundant, with trout averaging 16” – 22” on the 3 mile stretch of water offered by Boxwood Gulch Ranch.  The top 3 teams are determined by the teams total length of trout landed.

The Battle at Boxwood was founded by  Steve Payne, a business executive and retired NHL player, who spent 10 years with the Minnesota North Stars (now the Dallas Stars). In his own words, “Supporting our military is very important to me, so I spend a lot of time doing so. With help from some generous, caring friends, I created the Battle at Boxwood event now in it’s seventh year. The event supports the wonderful organization, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF), by raising money and getting recovering wounded warriors on the water for a day of trout fishing with sports celebrities from the NHL, NFL and MLB.”

Your giving and support is essential to our continued success. Your help and generous Battle at Boxwood partnership will enable us to continue to serve our disabled veterans by providing demonstrated emotional and physical rehabilitation.
