Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc is proud to partner with The Harbaugh Foundation. This collaboration can be witnessed in the small community of Wise River, MT at Freedom Ranch for Heroes.  Each year, 160 disabled veterans from Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing programs visit the ranch to have some fun, learn new skills, and bond with their fellow veterans.  You can read more about this special place by visiting https://projecthealingwaters.org/freedomranchforheroes/

This special partnership, and place, will be on display at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course this Jan 24 – Jan 27, 2019.  Below is a press release from The Harbaugh Foundation and their role at the Farmers Insurance Open and the Patriots’ Outpost.

SAN DIEGO (Jan. 14, 2019) – Members of the military will get the appreciation they deserve when the Farmers Insurance Open returns to Torrey Pines Golf Course Jan. 24 through Jan. 27.
At the Patriots’ Outpost on the 13th Hole, active-duty military and their guests will receive hospitality and front-row seats inside a VIP pavilion sponsored by The Harbaugh Foundation.
“The late George Harbaugh was an Air Force pilot who loved our country, our armed services and the game of golf,” said Harbaugh Foundation Director Joseph Balla. “At the Patriots’ Outpost, we will celebrate our Freedom Fighters while they enjoy the excitement of the pro golf tournament from a great venue.”

As the tournament attracts top golfers to Torrey Pines Golf Course, the Patriots’ Outpost will welcome soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, Coast Guard personnel and their guests during competitive rounds.

Housed in a 6,000-square-foot pavilion, the Patriots’ Outpost offers a commanding view of the green, fairways and ocean. Inside, the military guests of honor will receive complimentary food, beverages and up-close seating.

Another perk is the possibility of face time with the athletes. In 2016, golfer Jon Rahm visited the outpost to shake hands, pass out hats and sign autographs. Rahm went on to win the tournament and his first PGA Tour title.

In addition to the Patriots’ Outpost, the Harbaugh Foundation supports members of the armed services through partnerships with Easterseals, the Honor Foundation and Freedom Ranch for Heroes.   Located in Montana on a bend of the Big Hole River, Freedom Ranch for Heroes works with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing to offer fly fishing excursions to disabled military veterans. Every year, The Harbaugh Foundation sponsors the stays of 160 disabled disabled veterans from Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing programs located across the country.  During their visits, veterans fly-fish, relax and heal among the streams and woods.  On the ranch, the giant lodge is symbolic of the ingenuity, hard work and American spirit of its guests. Made of timbers salvaged from an 1887 barn, the structure – and its dismantling and reconstruction — was featured on the DIY Network program, Barnwood Builders.

In other philanthropic pursuits, the Solana Beach-based Harbaugh Foundation funds medical research, youth development, pediatric cancer research and open space preservation.  In Solana Beach in 2015, the Harbaugh Foundation played a key role in preserving ocean-view property that was zoned for a hotel. “Harbaugh Seaside Trails” is now preserved as permanent open space. A second project, Harbaugh Seaside Parkway, is under restoration in neighboring Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

The Patriots’ Outpost provides hospitality to active-duty members of the military.
