The Board of Trustees of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) takes great pleasure in presenting the project’s most prestigious award, the Patriot Award, to BAE Systems, Inc. BAE Systems has been a tremendous contributor and supporter of PHWFF for ten years. The foundation of support has served the disabled men and women who have dedicated their lives to our great nation. The company’s unwavering commitment and involvement are an inspiration to all, ensuring the success of numerous PHWFF activities.
PHWFF depends on the support of corporate donors. In that vein, BAE Systems has provided transportation to the United Kingdom for our participants to fish with disabled British Army Veterans. The camaraderie of like souls from distant nations resulted in a memorable trip of healing for all. The company has provided two Board members – one becoming the Chairman. Other employees who have attended the Mossy Creek Invitational have unselfishly volunteered to help with the preparation and execution of the event for which BAE Systems has been THE Tournament sponsor, contributing over $250,000.
BAE Systems’ support of our military goes beyond their involvement with PHWFF. As the first Global Sponsor of the USO and an early sponsor of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, BAE systems has an unequalled reputation as a company that cares for its servicemen and women. In addition, BAE Systems is respected as an Industry Leader in the proactive hiring of over 1,350 wounded and disabled Veterans.
The steadfast support of BAE Systems over the past decade epitomizes noble intentions and commitment to the healing of our most deserving of our citizens – the men and women of our Armed Forces. Accordingly, the Trustees of PHWFF are proud to recognize BAE Systems, Inc. for its extraordinary and far-reaching support of our mission and the missions of others.
The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the BAE Systems, Inc Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. The award was presented by PHWFF Founder Ed Nicholson to Jerry DeMuro, President and CEO of BAE Systems, Inc with the PHWFF Board of Trustees in attendance.
The Patriot Award is Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing’s (PHWFF) highest and most prestigious award. It is bestowed upon individuals or organizations that have demonstrated, over time, continuous and extraordinary service to PHWFF as an organization, and to those whom the organization serves. The recognition may encompass different types of support – from personal commitment to our mission or beyond that which would normally be expected, to material support in the form of donations, whether in money, or in kind, that are truly significant. The underlying premise is that the Patriot Award is given only to those who have demonstrated care and concern about our disabled PHWFF participants, military and veteran alike, that far exceeds what would normally be expected from our committed volunteers and supporters
