Joe Cresta, our New England regional coordinator, was recently named an Ambassador for the American Museum of Fly Fishing.

Cresta, a United States Marine Corps veteran, did not discover fly fishing until late in the game.

“I was 31-years-old when I first got into it,” Cresta said. “I had driven by this fly-fishing club a million of times until I finally decided to join.”

After joining Malden Anglers, Cresta discovered Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. and quickly started the Saugus, Massachusetts PHWFF program.

“The phrase I hear all of the time is ‘this program saved my life.’ I’ve said it before myself.”

A friend of Cresta’s from the museum came to him last year and talked to him about becoming an ambassador, but then COVID-19 happened, and he had forgotten all about it until recently.

As an ambassador to the museum, Cresta’s job is to promote the museum, educate about their history, and some other projects.

The American Museum of Fly Fishing is located in Manchester, Vermont and features a campaign ribbon fly plate created by the Olympic Peninsula Fly Fishers for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing
