Fly Fishing Shows, Volunteer Appreciation, and The Fly Fishing Film Tour
The first two months of the year contain the usual cast of characters and here is what to expect:
– Our annual Volunteer appreciation meeting will be Feb 1st this year at the 21C library. Please come see what our 2025 plans look like as we celebrate our volunteer service contribution. This gives you a chance to get out of the house and meet up with our national and local leadership teams. Lunch will be catered.
– The Fly Fishing Show at the Gaylord Hotel was moved back a month to Feb 21-22-23 and we will be sharing a booth with our Front Range programs, Denver and Water Valley. Please come by and see us! They have military discounts for admission. We will not be attending the International Sportsmens Expo this year as the fly fishing booths have reduced numbers over the past few years.
– And the F3T Film tour at the Stargazers Theater is scheduled for Feb. 16th. Project Healing Waters has been a benefactor for this annual fundraiser for a number of years and we thank Angler’s Covey and the Morning Hatch Fund for their generosity in our community. Do you have 3 hours a week to spare? We are looking for friendly faces to staff our office Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We run 2 shifts a day from 9-12 and 1-4 to maintain an open office where our military heroes can drop in for a cup of coffee or a kind word. We have some light admin work to keep you busy … taking calls and donations, answering questions, and chat about the PHW mission (or your best fishing tips). Basically, anything to help us clean and maintain our office space. If you can spare a few hours, you’ll help us create a welcoming environment and make a big difference for Veterans. If you enjoy talking, helping others, and being part of something awesome, reach out and join the volunteer team!
COS is looking for someone to administer our National Trips. This volunteer position will report to the APL of operations, Woody Boyd. Duties include: Participant and Ambassador qualification, Making sure the proper forms are filled out and submitted to national, CRM record management for BIO’s and pictures, and managing national requests for last minute openings. This is a seasonal position that begins in early spring where we select candidates for the trips. We then gather the forms and help with writing responses. There is a COS submission prior to March when we start filling the Oak Heart Lodge trips and Freedom Ranch starts in mid-May. Then the rest of the year is light admin work to check on trip and participant availability and responding to last minute trip openings that we can place COS participants on. Friends are invited, but no first time tyers!
