Phil Johnson Exceptional Leadership Award

The Board of Trustees of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) takes great pleasure in presenting the Patriot Award to Senator Tommy Tucker, for his exceptional support and dedication to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing since 2014.

Through his commitment to community and family values, Senator Tucker elevated Project Healing Water Fly Fishingā€™s organizational reach and impact throughout North Carolina. As a U.S. Navy veteran, he recognized the positive impact that its programs provide to disabled veteransā€™ lives throughout North Carolina and across our great nation.Ā  Senator Tucker selflessly committed his time, his resources, and his influence to enable Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. to steadily create additional programs throughout North Carolina ā€“ thereby providing a positive healing environment for our nationā€™s disabled veterans.

As a member of the North Carolina Legislature Senator Tucker increased overall awareness for Project Healing Waterā€™s programmatic operations throughout the state.Ā  His steadfast dedication and commitment to our cause provided access to funds that provided significant improvements in physical and emotional rehabilitative activities for the stateā€™s disabled veteran population.Ā  As evidence of this support, Senator Tuckerā€™s actions contributed to more than 45% increase in participant enrollment throughout North Carolina in the last two years.Ā  His actions also enabled the creation of programs at many Veterans Administration medical facilities and military installations throughout North Carolina.

Senator Tuckerā€™s unwavering support enabled Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. to increasingly expand its programs throughout North Carolina to an ever-expanding number of disabled veterans.Ā  His dedication and commitment to our cause remains invaluable because it helped heal those who served our great nation.Ā  In the words of the Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing patriarch, John Bass, ā€œTommy is one of those types of guys that know when good works are real and will do his best to cut through the bureaucracy to support them.ā€ Ā This statement represents a straightforward ideal that Senator Tucker applies to all aspects of his life, his business, and his leadership.Ā  It also serves as litmus to determine his unwavering commitment to our organizationā€™s mission, vision and core values.

The Board of Trustees of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is proud to bestow on Senator Tommy Tucker the Patriot Award for his tireless and extraordinary service to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc. and to those wounded warriors and disabled veterans whom this organization serves.
