Project Healing Waters staff had the wonderful opportunity at the end of last week to visit with a strong contingent from the Virginia Tech Fly Fishing Club, providing a chance to share the healing journeys at the core of the organization’s mission with a young and eager audience of fly anglers.

Bubba Holt, Director of Training and Standardization, and John Fall, Vice President of Donor Relations, were invited by the Vice President (Mike Smith) and President (Chris Klein) of the club to offer both an introduction and insight into volunteering with Project Healing Waters. We were thrilled with the turnout of over 40 engaged club members that asked great questions and quickly wanted to help.  Bubba Holt walked through his experiences and provided advice on a range of fly fishing topics and opportunities in the local waters but more importantly, what the club members will experience through volunteering.

“You can make a difference” in the life of our Veterans was the simple message.  Based on our time with the students, our future is bright as they will answer the call.  We look forward to engaging more college clubs across the country and tie their passion for Fly Fishing with their desire to give back!
